OSSC Member’s PS Biranchi Sahoo Gets Conditional Bail By Orissa HC

Cuttack: Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) member’s Private Secretary Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, who was arrested by the Vigilance department in a disproportionate assets case, has been granted conditional bail by Orissa High Court on Tuesday.

Sahoo was arrested on July 31after he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 3.51 crore.

Earlier, Sahoo was placed under suspension by the Commission that also recommended the state government to take stringent action against him. Following this, the state government has ordered the compulsory retirement of Sahoo.

Notably, Vigilance sleuths had apprehended Sahoo, the Private Secretary to a Member of OSSC following raids on his houses.

The vigilance officials had conducted simultaneous raids at 6 places including his residential house. During searches, the sleuths of the anti-corruption wing traced assets worth over Rs 3.79 crore belonging to the official.
