Bhubaneswar: Intensifying the ongoing ‘Operation Cleanup’ in Odisha Prisons, the Jail authorities have seized five mobile phones from Aska sub-jail on Thursday.
According to the Office of the Superintendent, Sub-Jail, Aska, five mobile phones including three having SIM cards have been seized from the sub-jail premises.
The mobile phones seized by Aska Sub-Jail Superintendent have been handed over to Aska Police Station Inspector In-Charge (IIC). Both Police and Departmental action will be taken against the persons who will be found guilty, the jail authorities said.

On May 30, the jail authorities had seized five mobile phones and 250 grams of ganja from Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar. Following the seizure and preliminary investigation, Chief Warder Sudarshan Barik was placed under suspension.
In order to enforce strict discipline in jail premises, “Operation Cleanup” is underway in various jails by the Directorate of Prisons.
“Operation Cleanup” is being undertaken under the supervision of Santosh Kumar Upadhyay, DG of Prisons and Director of Correctional Services, Odisha for complete and overall reform and change of the Jail sub-culture in a mission mode.
