The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has officially increased the prices of its milk variants across the state, with the new rates going into effect today.
The revised prices are aimed at supporting dairy farmers while adjusting to market demands.
According to the updated pricing structure:
- Premium and toned milk will now cost Rs 2 more per litre
- Gold milk sees a Rs 4 per litre hike
Following the revision, the retail price of OMFED milk per litre has touched ₹54 in many regions.
This change comes as part of a state-backed initiative to ensure better remuneration for dairy farmers. As per government sources, farmers will now receive Rs 3 more per litre of milk they supply. Out of this, Rs 2 will be subsidised by the government, making it a significant step toward rural livelihood enhancement.
OMFED officials emphasised that the revision aligns with rising production costs and the need to ensure a sustainable dairy ecosystem. While consumers will bear a marginal increase, the intended long-term impact is to stabilise milk production and incentivise quality supply.
This price revision is likely to influence milk pricing trends across Odisha, while also reaffirming the government’s commitment to agricultural development.
