Ten fishermen from Andhra Pradesh were rescued after their fishing boat developed engine failure and drifted near the Puri coast.
The vessel, registered as IND-AP-V5-MM-872, had sailed from Kakinada Fishing Harbour for a fishing expedition when its engine stopped working. The anchor also failed, leaving the boat stranded about 2 to 3 kilometres off the coast near the Taj Hotel.
After receiving information, the Superintendent of Police directed immediate rescue operations. Police teams from Baliapanda Police Station and Penthakata Marine Police coordinated with nearby fishing vessels to assist. A boat from Visakhapatnam reached the stranded vessel and rescued all ten fishermen safely.
Officials confirmed that the fishermen, residents of Chintapalli village in Vizianagaram district, returned home without injuries. Authorities are arranging to tow the disabled fishing boat to a safe location.
