Security was heightened at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Tuesday after authorities received a bomb threat call, marking the second such incident in a week.
The Mumbai Police, along with airport security personnel, swiftly activated emergency protocols, deploying bomb detection squads to investigate the matter.
Despite thorough inspections, no suspicious items were discovered, and officials later declared the threat a hoax. However, given the recent surge in such alerts, law enforcement agencies are taking the matter seriously, working to trace the origin of the calls and prevent future disruptions.
Last week, a similar warning was issued via email, targeting the airport and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, causing panic and temporary security lockdowns. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the incidents are connected and to identify those responsible.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, as they continue to reinforce safety measures at one of India’s busiest airports.
