Odisha is rapidly cementing its status as an emerging powerhouse for high-technology manufacturing.
In a landmark development, the Unit Approval Committee (UAC) of the Falta Special Economic Zone (FSEZ) has greenlit a proposal by M/s SiCSem Private Limited to establish Odisha’s second major semiconductor manufacturing unit at IDCO Infovalley-II in Jatni Tahasil, Khordha district.
Driving Exports and Employment
Beyond positioning the state firmly on India’s semiconductor map, the project is a massive win for regional employment and the national economy:
-
Job Creation: Direct employment opportunities for approximately 1,270 professionals.
-
Export Powerhouse: Projected export turnover of Rs. 7,043 crore over the next five years.
-
Net Foreign Exchange: Estimated NFE earnings of around Rs. 4,523 crore during the projection period.
By leveraging the robust Special Economic Zone framework, the project will significantly bolster India’s domestic self-reliance in critical components while accelerating export-oriented industrial growth in eastern India. With this latest nod, Odisha is fast-tracking its transition into a premier hub for advanced electronics and semiconductor innovation.
