An unidentified young man allegedly died by suicide inside the Kendrapara District Collector’s office premises on Friday afternoon, triggering shock and panic among staff and visitors.

According to preliminary information, the youth used a gamucha (traditional towel) to hang himself from a steel railing along the staircase leading to the first floor of the Collectorate building.

Staff and visitors spotted the body, leading to chaos inside the office. Police rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and began an investigation.

Officials confirmed that the identity of the deceased had not been established at the time of reporting. Police launched an inquiry to determine his identity and the circumstances that led to the incident.

The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and authorities are examining whether the youth had any prior connection with the Collectorate.
