The Under-17 competitions of the 69th SGFI Rugby Championship 2025–26 concluded with host Odisha clinching the girls’ title and Bihar securing the boys’ championship at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, on April 7, 2026.
In the girls’ category, Odisha displayed dominance to lift the trophy. Bihar finished runner-up, while Maharashtra and Delhi claimed third and fourth positions. In the boys’ category, Bihar defeated Odisha in the final, with Maharashtra and Rajasthan securing third and fourth places.
The valedictory ceremony featured Dr Yeddula Vijay, Director of Sports and Youth Services, as the Chief Guest. He praised the athletes for their discipline and sportsmanship, encouraging them to aim for higher levels of competition. Director of Secondary Education Birendra Korkora highlighted the role of school sports in shaping well-rounded individuals. Tournament Observer Arvind Yadav commended Odisha for successfully hosting the event and emphasised the importance of grassroots rugby development.
The championship continues with Under-14 boys’ and girls’ matches scheduled for April 9 and 10, 2026, at the same venue.
