Odisha showcased its investment potential in chemicals, petrochemicals and allied sectors at the Global CEO Roundtable on India’s Chemicals Sector: Charting the Path to USD 1 Trillion by 2040, held at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.
The event was convened by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals and Invest India, chaired by Union Minister JP Nadda, with participation from over 30 global and Indian chemical industry leaders.
Nadda reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to supporting emerging hubs at Gopalpur and Paradip, complementing Odisha’s industrial ecosystem. Union MoS Anupriya Patel highlighted reforms to reduce administrative burdens and improve investment viability.
Representing Odisha, Industries Department Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma emphasised the state’s long coastline, strategic ports, industrial land parcels, feedstock availability and utilities, positioning Odisha as a competitive destination for chemicals, petrochemicals, plastics and allied manufacturing. He underlined the state’s vision to build a diversified ecosystem focused on downstream value addition and employment generation.
Key destinations include the PCPIR at Paradip anchored by IOC’s refinery and petrochemicals complex, the port‑based industrial complex at Dhamra, and industrial areas near Gopalpur Port with blanket environmental clearances. Chemicals, petrochemicals and technical textiles are thrust sectors under Odisha’s Industrial Policy Resolution 2022, qualifying for the highest incentives.
On the sidelines, Odisha’s delegation held meetings with companies exploring projects in titanium pigments, adhesives, BOPP films and fertilisers, reiterating its commitment to assist investors with site identification, approvals and implementation.
“Odisha’s participation reflects its sustained outreach to convert investor interest into projects, strengthen downstream and ancillary value chains, and generate employment,” the Industries Department said, aligning with the state’s vision of Samruddha Odisha by 2036.
