Directed by Mike Flanagan, the upcoming film is the seventh instalment in the legendary franchise and boasts a packed, star-studded cast featuring Scarlett Johansson, Diane Lane, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Leguizamo, and Laurence Fishburne.
The film follows a single mother and police officer facing a terrifying demonic force targeting her 12-year-old son, echoing her dark past. Slated for a theatrical release on March 12, 2027, the film faces a monumental challenge at the box office. The original 1973 classic remains the franchise’s highest-grossing film, holding a domestic total of over $233 million across its original run and re-releases.
While Johansson’s global star power is expected to secure a solid opening weekend, industry experts note that surpassing the 1973 classic’s domestic benchmark will ultimately depend on sustained word-of-mouth and strong repeat viewership.
