Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Election Commission (SEC) on Wednesday ordered to hold a fresh poll (re-poll) at several booths under the Dhamnagar Notified Area Council (NAC) where the election could not take place on March 24 due to disruptions.
In a notification issued today, the SEC ordered the conduct of repoll in Booth No. 03 (Ward No. 02), Booth No. 8, 9 (Ward No. 5), Booth No. 16 (Ward No. 9), Booth No. 17, 18 (Ward no. 10) of Dhamnagar NAC.
After the polling could not be held due to disruptions at these booths on March 24, the SEC on March 25 had postponed the counting of votes in all Wards for Councillor and Chairperson of Dhamnagar NAC.
The SEC announced that fresh re-poll will take place in these booths on April 5, 2022 between 10 am and 4 pm.
“In exercise of the powers conferred under Article 243-ZA of the Constitution of India, Rule 54 of Odisha Municipal (Delimitation of Wards, Reservation of Seats and Conduct of Election) Rules, 1994, the State Election Commission has been pleased to order that Fresh Poll (Re-Poll) shall take place in the above Booths on 05.04.2022 between 10.00 AM to 4.00 PM,” the SEC notification read.
The counting of votes of all Wards shall be held on April 6, 2022 from 8 am onwards.
“Holding of fresh poll should be widely published for information of all concerned,” the SEC notification added.
