Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid floral tribute to the statue of Swabhaba Kabi Gangadhar Meher on his death anniversary, honouring the legendary poet who enriched Odia literature with his timeless works.
The ceremony took place near the Odisha Legislative Assembly, where the Chief Minister offered homage and remembered Meher’s contributions as a source of pride for the Odia community.
Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida joined the tribute along with Odia Language, Literature and Culture Minister Surjyabanshi Suraj. Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Chief Whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan, senior politician Priyadarshi Mishra, veteran journalist Pradyumna Satpathy, Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout, and senior officials, including Rashmita Panda and Dr Debyani Bhuyan, also attended the event.
Leaders and dignitaries recalled Gangadhar Meher’s literary brilliance and his role in shaping Odia identity. They emphasised his works as guiding lights for future generations and highlighted the importance of preserving the Odia language and culture.
