A major road accident occurred today in the Pahala area of Bhubaneswar, when a speeding truck rammed into a car and dragged it for nearly 100 metres.
Miraculously, the four passengers inside the car survived with minor injuries.
According to sources, the accident took place while the car was travelling from Nakhara towards Bhubaneswar. The truck hit the vehicle and dragged it along the road, leaving the car’s side panels and doors severely damaged. Eyewitnesses reported that the car’s body was crushed and twisted under the impact.
Local residents rushed to the spot, and police arrived shortly after to begin an investigation. The condition of the passengers is yet to be officially confirmed.
The Pahala–Nakhara stretch has witnessed several such accidents in the past, raising concerns over road safety and enforcement. Citizens have urged authorities to step up awareness campaigns and stricter monitoring to prevent recurrence.
Police have launched an inquiry into the incident and are expected to take action against the truck driver.
