A man died following an alleged domestic altercation with his wife in Odisha’s Bolangir district, with police launching an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case was reported from Chimnibhati Pada under the jurisdiction of the Bolangir Town Police Station.

Man Sustained Head Injury During Altercation

According to preliminary information, an argument broke out between the couple at their residence. During the dispute, the woman allegedly struck her husband on the head with a mobile phone, leaving him injured.

Family members immediately shifted the injured man to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Bolangir, where he received medical treatment.

Doctors reportedly discharged him after his condition showed signs of improvement, following which he returned home.

Condition Worsened After Returning Home

Shortly after reaching home, the man’s health reportedly deteriorated.

He was rushed back to the District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, he later died on Saturday.

Police Await Post-Mortem Findings

Police have registered the case and begun an investigation into the incident.

The deceased’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and establish whether the fatal injuries were directly linked to the alleged assault.

Investigators are also questioning family members and other persons connected to the case as part of the probe.

Officials said further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem findings and other evidence collected during the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected as police continue their inquiry.
