Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan assured the public that the bomb threat emails sent to several courts in the state were fake and hoax messages.

Harichandan stated that there is no reason for panic. He confirmed that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has already ordered an investigation, and the culprits will be identified soon. He emphasised that court premises remain safe and secure.

The Director General of Police and specialised squads carried out thorough inspections at Cuttack, Sambalpur, and Deogarh district courts. Bomb squads, dog squads, and police teams conducted detailed searches inside and outside the premises. After the checks, court activities resumed normally, and authorities declared the complexes fully secure.

Advocate General Pitambar Acharya also addressed the issue, calling the emails completely false. He said he informed the Chief Minister, who directed an immediate investigation. Acharya revealed that preliminary findings traced the origin of the hoax emails to Tamil Nadu. He added that he personally spoke with the Chief Justice and the DGP, who confirmed that court operations face no disruption.

Earlier in the day, the threatening emails mentioned plans to blow up court buildings, briefly halting proceedings and creating tension among lawyers, staff, and litigants. Police responded quickly, tightened security, and maintained deployment around the courts.

Both the Law Minister and Advocate General appealed to the public to remain calm. They assured that the investigation will identify the culprits soon and reiterated that judicial premises across Odisha are safe.
