Expressing deep concern over Andhra Pradesh’s continuous electoral interference and administrative encroachments in the disputed Kotia region, Jayapur MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati has made a strong appeal for cross-party unity.
Emphasising that Kotia is not merely a geographical territory, he asserted that it is deeply tied to Odisha’s heritage, tribal self-respect, and regional identity.
Addressing the issue, leaders highlighted that while legal battles and judicial processes are actively ongoing, all stakeholders must respect the rule of law and avoid creating confusion among local residents. Winning the trust of the people of Kotia requires rigorous and sustained development in basic infrastructure, including roads, education, healthcare, drinking water, and livelihood opportunities.
The developments followed a high-level Congress delegation visit to Kotia led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhakta Charan Das, along with State Mahila Congress President Meenakshi Bahinipati and Rama Chandra Kadam. During a press meet held in the region, the delegation aimed to build public awareness regarding the ground realities, the rights of the locals, and the broader interests of Odisha.
Drawing a parallel to the region’s deep-rooted cultural ties, leaders remembered the significant contributions of the late Krushna Chandra Panigrahi. As the President of the Sabara Srikhetra Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee, commitments were reiterated to continue spreading Jagannatha culture and safeguarding Odia identity in Kotia.
Emphasising that the Kotia dispute transcends partisan politics, the leaders urged all political parties, social organisations, intellectuals, the youth, and the media to unite. Collective solidarity and a robust push for both legal action and grassroots development are being championed as the ultimate safeguards for the rights of Kotia’s residents and the pride of Odisha.
