Odisha’s Culture Department announced financial assistance of Rs. 1.08 crore for the grand celebration of Sital Sasthi in Sambalpur district. The decision follows the directive of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
This year, 21 festival committees will receive the funds to organise the traditional event. Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj welcomed the move, describing Sital Sasthi as a vibrant celebration of Odisha’s cultural heritage and spiritual ethos. He emphasised that the government remains committed to preserving and promoting such traditions.
The Minister said the financial support will help ensure the festival is celebrated with greater grandeur and enthusiasm. He added that the initiative strengthens Odisha’s cultural identity at both national and global levels.
Officials confirmed that the assistance will be disbursed directly to the committees, enabling them to conduct rituals, processions, and cultural programs smoothly. The announcement has been widely appreciated in Sambalpur, where Sital Sasthi is regarded as one of the most significant cultural festivals.
