Principal Secretary of the Works Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh, visited the Matiapada Road Over Bridge (ROB) construction site in Puri and reviewed its progress ahead of the upcoming Rath Yatra in July.
Singh conducted a detailed inspection of pending works and assessed the progress of key construction activities. He directed the executing agency to expedite the launching of the bow-string girder and the casting of the bridge deck slab. He emphasised strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards during execution.
Highlighting the importance of timely completion, Singh instructed the agency to deploy adequate manpower, machinery, and resources. He stressed close coordination with the Department to ensure the project finishes within the stipulated timeline.
The EPC contracting agency chairman informed Singh that the bow-string girder launching will be completed by June 15, 2026, while the deck slab casting is scheduled for June 20, 2026.
Upon completion, the Matiapada ROB will significantly improve traffic flow in Puri, reduce travel time, and provide seamless connectivity for commuters. The project is expected to strengthen transport infrastructure and facilitate smoother traffic management during the car festival.
The review meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer (National Highways-I), Er. Narayan Patel, Chief Construction Engineer Er. Ajit Kumar Ray, Superintending Engineer, Pupun Kumar Pradhan, Superintending Engineer, R&B Er. Soumya Ranjan Dwibedi and EPC Chairman Subash Agrawal.
