In a heartwarming display of spiritual reverence and cultural pride, Odisha’s Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati spent Monday connecting with the state’s rich spiritual traditions during a memorable visit to Gajapati district.
The day began with the Governor gracing the grand Mahendragiri Mela atop the holy Mahendragiri mountain. He actively participated in the Maha Yajna and offered prayers at the historic Kunti Temple.

Describing Mahendragiri as “Odisha’s permanent spiritual heritage,” Dr Kambhampati said the sacred peak has inspired generations with its message of faith, devotion, and unity.

Later, he visited the peaceful Jirang Buddhist Monastery, nestled in a calm, green setting. The Governor prayed before Lord Buddha, seeking blessings for global peace, prosperity, and the welfare of every citizen. Monks and local residents warmly welcomed him, and he took time to interact with them, patiently listening to their views and concerns.

Recalling his personal role in bringing the sacred relics of Lord Buddha from Vietnam to India, Dr Kambhampati called the visit “especially meaningful.” He lauded the monks for their deep devotion, compassion, harmony, and commitment to spiritual wisdom.

The Governor also praised the math’s vital work in spreading Lord Buddha’s teachings, promoting peace, and preserving cultural understanding for future generations.“ The dedication of the sadhus and sants in keeping Buddha’s message alive is truly inspiring,” he remarked.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Commerce, Transport, Steel & Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena were present during the Mahendragiri Mela programme, adding to the dignity of the occasion.
