The body of Sadashiv Mohanty, the driver who went missing after his car was swept away by strong floodwaters on the Anandapur Ring Road in Odisha’s Kendujhar district, was recovered on Thursday, ending a 30‑hour search operation.
Officials said continuous heavy rainfall had caused a 30‑foot‑wide breach on the ring road, creating a powerful current that washed away Mohanty’s Ertiga car. Rescue teams from the Fire Services, assisted by the district administration and local residents, launched an intensive search despite treacherous conditions.
After nearly 30 hours of continuous effort, the rescuers traced and recovered the body from the floodwaters, bringing closure to the operation.
The incident underscores the severity of the ongoing flood situation across Odisha, where incessant rainfall has led to road breaches, rising river levels and widespread inundation in multiple districts.
