The Odisha Finance Department has extended the deadline for refunding small depositors affected by the chit fund scam to March 31, 2026, giving thousands of families more time to claim their money.

The earlier deadline was January 31, 2026.

The extension covers two categories of depositors:

  • Those who deposited up to Rs. 10,000 and were recommended by the Commission of Inquiry.
  • Those who deposited up to Rs. 8,000 with the Golden Land Developers Group of Companies but did not receive refunds in the first phase.

Depositors can check their application status by visiting their district’s official website or logging on to www.opid.odisha.gov.in (opid.odisha.gov.in in Bing) using affidavit numbers or application details.

To claim refunds, depositors must approach the concerned Revenue Inspector with valid identity documents such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving License, or PAN card. They also need to provide original money receipts and bank account details, including account number, bank name, and IFSC code.

The Finance Department assured that refunds will be processed within 15 days of submission. Officials emphasised that the move aims to provide relief to small depositors who have long awaited justice in the chit fund scam case.

This extension is expected to ease financial distress for many families across Odisha, particularly those who lost their savings in fraudulent schemes.
