A high-level review meeting was held today at the State Police Headquarters under the chairmanship of Director General of Police (DGP) Vinaytosh Mishra, focusing on law and order, crime control, and police preparedness across districts under the Central Range.
The DGP discussed key issues with district SPs, including control of serious crimes such as murder, robbery, and dacoity, reduction of road accident fatalities, crackdown on excise-related offences, cybercrime monitoring, and expediting investigations to ensure timely charge-sheet filing and improved conviction rates.
Highlighting the importance of the Central Range, Mishra directed police officials to prepare in advance for upcoming festivals including Ganesh Puja, Nuakhai, Vishwakarma Puja, Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Diwali, Anla Navami, Panchuka, and Bali Jatra. He stressed adequate deployment in sensitive areas, crowd management, smooth traffic regulation, and coordination with peace committees, local representatives, and community leaders to maintain harmony.
The DGP emphasised proactive measures in communally sensitive zones, strict surveillance on habitual and organised criminals, and intensified naka checking to curb illegal cattle transport, mineral smuggling, and other unlawful activities. He also directed vigilance against misinformation and provocative content on social media, strengthening intelligence networks for early alerts.
Mishra underscored the need for strong police-public relations, regular field visits by local officers, and effective teamwork across all levels of the force. Senior police officials, including ADGPs, IGPs, DIGs, and SPs of Central Range districts, attended the meeting.
