The Commissionerate Police have put in place an extensive security umbrella across Bhubaneswar ahead of a 12-hour statewide bandh call scheduled for Sept 30.
The strike has been called from dawn to dusk by the Naba Nirmana Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) and the Naba Nirmana Yuva Chhatra Sangathan. The organizations are protesting against alleged critical errors in school textbooks and are demanding the immediate resignation of the Minister for School and Mass Education.
To prevent any untoward incidents and maintain law and order, the Commissionerate Police has drawn up a detailed security layout for Bhubaneswar. Approximately 10 platoons of police force, along with 15 senior police officers, have been deployed at strategic and sensitive locations across the capital city.
Security has been intensified around key installations, including:
- State Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha)
- State Secretariat (Lok Seva Bhavan)
- Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA)
- Railway Stations & Major Bus Terminals
- Key Traffic Junctions
Bhubaneswar DCP Saravana Vivek M. confirmed that police mobile units will conduct continuous patrolling alongside static picketing across key locations to monitor the situation.
Meanwhile, the State Home Department has issued directives to all District Collectors, District Magistrates, and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to take proactive preventive measures. Given the potential for road blockades, tire burning, and transport disruptions, authorities have been instructed to ensure normal functioning in government offices and safeguard emergency services.
