In a decisive push to make Odisha safer and policing more responsive, Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania chaired a high-level review meeting at his camp office this afternoon.
Senior officers from across the state joined the session, where the focus was sharp: improving the law-and-order situation, effective crime control, stronger police-public coordination, and transforming policing into a more proactive, people-friendly force.
DGP Khurania directed all Superintendents of Police and Range IGs/DIGs to immediately roll out special, result-oriented measures for crime control while building greater public trust and synergy. He stressed that every police station must now hold a mandatory “Briefing Parade” every morning before 9 AM, followed by detailed discussions on local law-and-order challenges, crime-prone pockets, active criminals, and ongoing investigations. “This will sharpen coordination, alertness, and rapid response at the grassroots level,” he told officers.
The DGP also ordered comprehensive professional and practical training for all staff deployed in Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) to enhance their efficiency and speed in handling complex emergencies. He called for stricter enforcement across the board: swift execution of pending Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs), strong action under the National Security Act (NSA) against hardcore and repeat offenders, and intensive drives to dismantle drug networks.
Additional directives included activating robust beat patrolling in every police station jurisdiction, increasing regular patrols on national highways, and launching targeted campaigns against anti-social elements and crime-prone activities. Serious cases such as murders will now receive continuous monitoring by senior officers to ensure quick arrests, thorough investigations, and convictions. Within the next 15 days, police units have been told to actively highlight their positive actions, timely interventions, and public-service initiatives so citizens stay well-informed.

Later in the day, DGP Khurania held a separate review with all Station House Officers of the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police. The meeting discussed local law-and-order dynamics, crime-control steps, sensitive cases, public-friendly behaviour, and smooth traffic management. He urged the officers to make policing in the state capital even more effective and citizen-centric.
The main meeting was attended by DGP (Crime Branch) Vinaytosh Mishra, Director of Intelligence R.P. Koche, and Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar. The Commissionerate meeting saw the presence of Police Commissioner Dr. S. Dev Datta Singh and Additional Police Commissioner Narsingha Bhol.
