The Odisha government credited two months’ pension assistance directly into the accounts of 17,60,435 beneficiaries, covering April and May, bringing relief to lakhs of social security pensioners across the state.
Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond confirmed that nearly 91.5 per cent of beneficiaries, including elderly persons, widows, and persons with disabilities, have already received their dues. He said the remaining beneficiaries will get their payments once banking and technical procedures are completed.
The government has also begun disbursing June pensions and assured that all eligible recipients will receive funds within the stipulated timeframe. Gond emphasised that the administration is taking necessary steps to ensure smooth transactions and avoid further delays.
This development follows reports of technical glitches in the pension portal that had disrupted payments earlier. The simultaneous release of two months’ pension aims to ease the financial strain faced by vulnerable groups dependent on timely assistance.
