Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended his heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw following the Railway Ministry’s approval of several significant railway infrastructure projects for Odisha.

This development is expected to significantly enhance the economic landscape of Odisha, particularly in the southern regions.

During his visit to Delhi, Chief Minister Majhi held discussions with Railway Minister Baishnab regarding the advancement of Odisha’s railway infrastructure. Among the approved projects are the final location survey for a new 250 km long Gopalpur-Rayagada railway line and the doubling of the Nuapada-Gunupur-Therubali railway line. These projects are anticipated to boost economic development and railway connectivity in the state.

Chief Minister Majhi also emphasized the importance of constructing the Joda-Barbil and Joda-Barsuan railway lines to develop an industrial corridor encompassing Barbil, Joda, and Keonjhar. The discussions have brightened the prospects for these projects, which are expected to expedite the state’s developmental goals.

In a statement, Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the crucial role of railway connectivity in driving economic growth and creating employment opportunities. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to achieving its development objectives under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi.

Railway Minister Vaishnaw affirmed the central government’s positive steps towards these projects and emphasized the Prime Minister’s special focus on Odisha’s development. He noted that ongoing railway projects worth Rs 73,000 crore are currently underway in the state, with 2046 km of new railway lines constructed in Odisha since 2014, surpassing the entire railway network of Malaysia.

The central government is also focusing on developing railway infrastructure in Odisha’s tribal and aspirational districts. During the third term of the Modi government, 8 new railway lines worth Rs 20,000 crore have been sanctioned, and 59 railway stations are being developed as Amrit stations, with 16 of these located in aspirational districts. Furthermore, six Vande Bharat trains are currently operating in Odisha, and more extensive steps are planned to advance railway infrastructure in the coming days.
