With the festive season of Dussehra just around the corner, the Food Safety Department in Bhubaneswar has stepped up enforcement, launching a series of rigorous raids across film halls, market complexes, hotels, and restaurants in the capital city.
During a recent inspection drive, authorities uncovered serious safety violations, seizing a significant quantity of adulterated chhena (cottage cheese) from a prominent hotel. In addition, multiple sweet stalls failing to meet hygiene and quality standards were immediately sealed, and owners have been directed to keep operations suspended until further notice.
The specialised food safety teams are meticulously inspecting various food outlets to verify food quality, kitchen hygiene, and compliance with pure-food regulations. Given the surge in food sales and dining out expected during Dussehra, officials are placing special emphasis on sweet shops, restaurants, and popular eating joints to ensure citizens consume safe and wholesome food.
The department has reiterated that zero tolerance will be maintained toward adulteration or unhygienic food practices. Strict legal action will be initiated against any establishment found compromising public health.
Furthermore, administration officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious food quality or unhygienic practices directly to the authorities. Routine inspections and enforcement drives are expected to continue throughout the festive period to safeguard public health and consumer rights across Bhubaneswar.
