The Odisha government is set to begin admissions for ‘Sishu Vatikas’ at primary schools from the next academic session, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Sharing this information on Tuesday, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said that the Sishu Vatika admission will be opened for children at the age of 3 years under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The program will admit children at the age of 3 years and will be implemented in around 45,000 primary schools. The state has allocated over Rs 31,000 crore for school education in the 2025-26 budget.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced the rollout of NEP-2020 starting the 2025-26 academic session, with Sishu Vatika classes covering early education stages.

Additionally, Rs 2960 crore has been proposed for upgrading around 7,000 elementary schools under the Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya initiative, aiming to enhance infrastructure and learning resources for children.
