Odisha: 41 Black Fungus Cases Detected So Far

Bhubaneswar: As many as 41 cases of mucormycosis/black fungus have been detected in the State. This was informed by the Director of Public Health Niranjan Mishra today.

Taking to the media persons, Mishra said, ” We are fully prepared to tackle the situation in case the number rises in coming days.

Mishra further said authorities concerned have been asked to keep separate wards for COVID and non COVID patients at all district headquarters hospital (DHHs) and COVID hospitals.

COVID situation in Odisha has crossed the peak and the infection graph is moving downwards. The infection is dipping in the State due to late surge in number of cases. The death rate is lower in Odisha in comparison to other states, said Mishra.

The rate of infection has started to dip in Odisha in June and we expect further decline, he added.

He further stated that “we are prepared for 3rd wave of COVID-19. Special task force has been constituted and arrangements will be in place according to the recommendations of the task force. More antigen tests will be done in rural areas.”
