The National Testing Agency (NTA) has revealed shocking irregularities in the NEET examination process, stating that one disputed OMR sheet was “completely AI‑generated” while another had been tampered with.
The findings came after students from Maharashtra alleged discrepancies between their recorded responses and final scores.
In Pune, a student claimed he had received two different OMR sheets—one downloaded from the NTA website showing a score of 707, and another emailed later showing just 217 marks. NTA concluded the first sheet was AI‑generated. In Beed, another student alleged his OMR matched his responses, but he was awarded only 95 marks instead of the 522 he calculated. NTA said this sheet had been tampered with.
The agency warned that candidates submitting fake or manipulated OMRs to discredit the exam process would face legal action. “Any fake/AI‑generated OMR may invite legal action against the complainant,” NTA stated on X.
Around 20 lakh candidates appeared for NEET this year, with 11.21 lakh qualifying for undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH, and allied programs. The probe underscores growing concerns over exam integrity and highlights the need for stricter safeguards against digital manipulation.
