A tragic accident in Paradip claimed the lives of Bibhuti Bhushan Das, an employee of the Marine Department at Paradip Port, and his wife Pratima Das in the early hours of Wednesday.
The couple was travelling near Gada Bazaar when their car struck a road divider, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off course and plunged into a deep, water‑filled pit. Both occupants remained trapped inside the submerged car and could not be rescued in time.
Personnel from Lock Police Station reached the spot promptly and initiated a detailed probe into the sequence of events. Authorities are examining the condition of the road, the circumstances leading to the mishap, and other possible contributing factors.
