Christopher Nolan’s latest epic, The Odyssey, has stormed the global box office with an estimated $257.8 million worldwide opening, marking the biggest debut of his career.
The film outperformed the opening numbers of Oppenheimer and The Dark Knight Rises, setting a new benchmark for the Oscar‑winning filmmaker.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film earned $125 million in North America and $132.8 million overseas, driven by exceptional advance bookings, sold‑out IMAX screenings, and glowing audience response.
In India, The Odyssey has delivered a record‑breaking run. After collecting Rs 17.4 crore net on Day 1, the film jumped 26.4% on Day 2 to earn Rs 22 crore net, screened across 8,791 shows nationwide. With this, its two‑day net collection reached Rs 39.4 crore, while gross earnings stood at Rs 47.03 crore.
The film has already created history by registering the biggest opening day of Nolan’s career in India. Analysts expect another strong surge on Sunday, putting the film on course for an excellent opening weekend.
With its spectacular debut, The Odyssey is shaping up to be one of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters of 2026 and among Nolan’s most successful theatrical releases to date.
