Nuapada: Komana Block, Sunabeda and its nearby areas in Nuapada District have been severely hit by the destructive Nor’wester on Friday evening.
The storm, accompanied by heavy rainfall, caused the uprooting of electric poles and blew away the asbestos of the multipurpose health centre in Sunabeda village. Numerous houses in the area also suffered significant damage.
A tree fell and blocked the main road in the village due to the Nor’wester. Fields adjacent to the road were flooded with rainwater. After the rain stopped, local youths of the village promptly cleared the fallen tree off the road.
However, the uprooted electric poles led to power disruptions in many parts of the region.
