The Odisha government has directed all departments not to hold official meetings on Mondays, ensuring grievance hearings receive top priority.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg issued the instructions after a secretary-level meeting, stressing that citizens’ complaints must be addressed without administrative distractions.

According to the order, departments will dedicate Mondays exclusively to listening to public grievances and resolving issues. Officials believe this step will strengthen accountability and improve public service delivery. By removing routine meetings from the schedule, departments can focus entirely on citizen concerns.

The directive also includes a provision for monthly reviews of flagship projects. Every department must conduct these reviews on the third Saturday of each month. The move aims to monitor progress and improve the implementation of key initiatives across the state.

Authorities expect the new schedule to streamline administrative work and enhance public trust. By prioritising grievance hearings, the government seeks to create a more responsive system that addresses complaints promptly. Departments are instructed to follow the directive strictly and report outcomes of grievance hearings regularly.
