A wave of immense pride has swept across Odisha as the Indian Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams clinched Gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
Sharing in this momentous national triumph, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reached out to congratulate the Odia stalwarts of the national men’s team, Amit Rohidas and Shilanand Lakra, over a heartfelt telephone call.
Speaking on behalf of the state government and 4.5 crore Odias, the Chief Minister lauded the duo for their exceptional performances that proved crucial to India’s victory. He specifically praised Amit Rohidas for his impenetrable defensive style and commended Shilanand Lakra for his aggressive attacking gameplay and crucial goal, noting that their combined efforts were instrumental in securing the championship.
“You both are the pride and glory of our state and the entire nation,” the Chief Minister told the players. He emphasized that their dedication and triumph on the international stage serve as a massive inspiration for the youth of the country.
Assuring them of the state’s unwavering support, CM Majhi conveyed the blessings of Lord Jagannath and the best wishes of the people of Odisha. “We are all eagerly waiting for your return to Odisha,” he added, expressing his hope that they will continue to achieve greater heights and bring further glory to the state and the country in the future.
