Bhubaneswar: Experts have said that the new COVID-19 strain is highly infectious. Youths and children are most vulnerable to the present mutant, they added.
Dr Jayant Panda, Professor of Medicine at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, said during a discussion organised by the State Government that even the people who are vaccinated might get infected with coronavirus, but the intensity of the disease is very low in such cases. He said one does not need hospitalization, if he has been vaccinated.
Dr Panda said the strain is highly infectious and added that it is powerful enough to attack everyone in the family. He said masks and social distance are our shields against the deadly disease.
He said those who wearing N95 masks must ensure that it fits and added that handmade mask users also use a surgical mask.
Chief Medical Officer, Ashwini Covid Hospital, Dr Sampat Dash, said the symptoms of coronavirus patients this year is alarming. The patients have gastro-intestinal problems, high fever, and weakness.
