The National Testing Agency (NTA) has strongly refuted claims of a NEET UG 2026 re-examination paper leak after a video circulating on social media alleged that the question paper had been shared on Telegram before the test.

The clarification came after the viral video generated widespread concern among students, parents, and educators following the nationwide NEET re-examination conducted on June 21.

NTA Labels Viral Video as Fake

In an official statement, the NTA confirmed that the video making rounds on social media is fabricated and that allegations of a paper leak are completely false.

According to the agency, the NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted successfully under strict security arrangements and comprehensive surveillance mechanisms across the country.

The government’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit also verified the claim and declared the viral video fake, urging the public not to believe or share misleading content.

“A video claiming that the NEET UG 2026 re-examination question paper was leaked on Telegram before the examination is fake. Reports alleging a paper leak are false and unfounded,” PIB Fact Check stated.

NTA Warns Against Spreading Misinformation

The examination authority warned that deliberately creating and circulating false information related to national-level examinations is a serious offence.

The NTA said it is working closely with law enforcement agencies and cybercrime authorities to identify those responsible for creating and distributing the misleading video.

Officials appealed to students and parents to rely only on information available through the official NEET website and verified NTA communication channels.

Over 20 Lakh Candidates Appeared for Re-Exam

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted across thousands of centres in India and abroad.

According to the NTA, more than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the examination, which was held in multiple languages under enhanced security protocols.

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh stated that no complaints regarding a question paper leak had been received following the completion of the examination.

He added that the evaluation process would begin shortly and that results are expected to be declared faster than previous years.

Why the Rumours Sparked Concern

The viral claims gained traction because the original NEET UG 2026 examination had already faced controversy over alleged paper leaks and examination irregularities.

The earlier allegations led to the decision to conduct a nationwide re-examination, making students particularly sensitive to any reports of fresh leaks.

As a result, the social media video quickly attracted attention before being officially debunked.

Student Welfare Remains a Priority

Education experts have urged students to avoid unverified information online and focus on authentic updates from official sources.

Authorities continue to emphasise transparency, fairness, and examination integrity while ensuring that candidates are not affected by misinformation campaigns.

The NTA reiterated that protecting the interests of millions of students remains its top priority and assured candidates that the examination process was conducted fairly and securely.
