Serena Williams will make a sensational singles comeback at Wimbledon 2026. The 44-year-old American champion received the final women’s singles wildcard from the All England Club, marking her first Grand Slam singles appearance since the US Open 2022.

Williams already confirmed her participation in doubles with her sister Venus, but her singles return electrifies the tennis world. She joins wildcard recipients including Poland’s Maja Chwalinska and six British players, Harriet Dart, Katie Swan, Alicia Dudeney, Hannah Klugman, Mika Stojsavljevic and Mimi Xu.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion recently tested her form at the Queen’s Club Championship, partnering Victoria Mboko in doubles. They won their opening match before Mboko withdrew due to injury. Williams will also compete in doubles at the Berlin Open with Karolina Muchova as preparation for Wimbledon, which begins June 29.

Her singles record at Wimbledon remains legendary. She owns seven titles, the last in 2016, and her 23 major singles crowns stand as the Open Era record. Since stepping away in 2022, she described her departure as an “evolution” rather than retirement.

Serena and Venus will reunite in doubles, their first Grand Slam pairing since the US Open 2022. The sisters hold a perfect 14-0 record in Grand Slam doubles finals, including six Wimbledon triumphs. Venus, now 45, continues to compete selectively and ranks No. 119 in doubles.

The Wimbledon draw later this week will reveal Serena’s opening-round opponent. Her return ensures one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament’s first round.
