The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast weather alert for Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, warning of light to moderate rainfall in the next one to two hours.
According to the latest nowcast bulletin released at 8:50 AM on Sunday, light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at one or two places in Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack district, including Cuttack city. Both districts have been placed under a Yellow Warning.
Rain Likely in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar stated that prevailing monsoon conditions are creating a favourable environment for rainfall activity across the twin-city region.
Residents can expect intermittent showers over the next few hours, with localised areas potentially receiving moderate rainfall.
IMD Advises Vigilance
While the current forecast mainly indicates light to moderate rain, weather officials have advised citizens to remain alert as sudden changes in weather conditions are possible.
Convective weather activity associated with the southwest monsoon can sometimes trigger brief spells of stronger rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and reduced visibility.
People travelling during the morning hours are advised to monitor local weather updates and take necessary precautions.
Second Weather Alert of the Day
This is the second weather advisory issued by the IMD for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and nearby areas on Sunday, highlighting continued moisture-rich and unstable atmospheric conditions over coastal Odisha.
Meteorologists attribute the weather activity to the active southwest monsoon, which continues to influence rainfall patterns across several districts of the state.
Monsoon Activity Remains Active
The southwest monsoon has remained active over Odisha in recent days, bringing periodic rainfall to many regions. Weather experts expect similar conditions to persist in parts of the state as moisture-laden winds continue to support cloud formation and precipitation.
Citizens are encouraged to stay updated through official IMD bulletins and local administration advisories for the latest weather information.
