A woman and her son have been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, a forester, following a heated family dispute.
The incident took place in the Baramasidanda area of Nayagarh district on Friday night.
According to police officials, the deceased, identified as Sishir Sahu, was working in the Sarankul Pancharida range. His wife, Namita, and their son, Abhisek, reportedly poured petrol on him and set him ablaze after an argument. Fire service personnel rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames, but Sahu had already suffered fatal injuries.
Authorities conducted a crime scene recreation and detained the wife and son. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, revealing that frequent family disputes and Sahu’s prolonged absence from home were contributing factors to the tragic event.
Nayagarh police officials confirmed that further investigations are underway to uncover additional details.
