Odisha Vigilance on Monday launched simultaneous searches at 10 locations linked to Arabinda Mohanty, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Rural Works (R&B) Sub-Division in Betnoti, Mayurbhanj district, over an allegation of possession of disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income.
The searches are being conducted on the strength of warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada.
A team comprising five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), eight Inspectors and other supporting staff is carrying out the searches across Mayurbhanj, Baleshwar and Khordha districts.
10 locations under Vigilance scanner
According to Odisha Vigilance, searches are being conducted at the following locations:
- A triple-storey residential building at Angargadia in Baleshwar.
- A double-storey building at Balianta in Khordha.
- Mohanty’s office at Betnoti in Mayurbhanj district.
- His residence at Betnoti.
- His paternal house at Rayan-Ramachandrapur in Jaleswar, Baleshwar district.
- His farmhouse at Basantapur in Baleshwar.
- Another house at Bamapada in Baleshwar.
- The house of an alleged close associate at Angargadia in Baleshwar.
- The house of another alleged close aide at Baisinga in Mayurbhanj district.
- The house of another associate at Bamapada in Baleshwar.
The searches were underway at the time of filing. Odisha Vigilance said further details would be shared after the completion of the searches.
The disproportionate-assets allegation has not been established, and the searches are part of the ongoing Vigilance investigation.
