Mumbai Indians delivered a statement performance that felt like a throwback to their glory days, dismantling Gujarat Titans by 99 runs in Match 30 of TATA IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl, putting early pressure on MI. Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj struck in the powerplay, reducing Mumbai to 44/3. But that’s when **Tilak Varma** took center stage. Walking in at No.5, the left-hander turned the game on its head with a sensational unbeaten 101 off just 45 balls — his maiden IPL century, laced with 8 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 224.44.

Supported by Naman Dhir’s gritty 45, Tilak unleashed a brutal assault in the death overs, helping MI surge to **199 for 5**. The final eight overs yielded 103 runs, with Tilak scoring 82 off his last 23 deliveries — a display of pure dominance that left the GT bowlers shell-shocked.

The chase never materialized. Jasprit Bumrah set the tone immediately, dismissing Sai Sudharsan with a first-ball duck and finishing with economical figures of 1/15 — his first wicket of the season. Hardik Pandya chipped in by removing Jos Buttler for 5.

Then came the middle-overs squeeze. **Ashwani Kumar** was the star with a match-winning **4 for 24**, while Mitchell Santner and AM Ghazanfar applied relentless pressure. Gujarat lost eight wickets for just 60 runs in a dramatic collapse, slumping to **100 all out in 15.5 overs**.

The final blow was fittingly delivered by young Afghan spinner **AM Ghazanfar**, who trapped **Mohammed Siraj** lbw for a golden duck (0 off 3 balls) to seal the innings. Ghazanfar’s variations (2/17) proved unplayable on a surface that assisted the slower bowlers.

This comprehensive victory marks Mumbai Indians’ first-ever win against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium and snaps a streak of defeats. It also sends a loud message: the core of the “OG” Mumbai Indians — led by Bumrah’s return to form and Tilak’s explosive batting — is roaring back.

Tilak Varma is the obvious choice for Player of the Match, though the entire bowling unit deserves immense credit for their clinical execution.

With this result, Mumbai climb off the bottom of the table and reignite their playoff hopes, while Gujarat Titans will need to regroup quickly after this rare home thrashing.
