Massive Fire In Puri Market Complex, Rescue Operation On; 3 Fire Fighters Injured

Puri: A massive fire broke out at Laxmi Market Complex in Puri late on Wednesday night.

Around 100 people were rescued from the market complex. At least three fire services personnel were injured during rescue operation.

Three people have been injured. They have been admitted to hospital for treatment,” Gokul Ranjan Das, IIC Town Police Station, Puri said.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained till the filing of the report.

Firefighting units were mobilised at the spot. ODRAF teams have also reached in the wee hours of Thursday and joined the rescue operation.

“Efforts are underway to douse the blaze,” further added the official.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Short-circuit is suspected to be the reason.

Till filing of the report, the rescue operation was on.

The market complex is situated in narrow lane which posed a major obstacle for the rescuers, officials said.

The flame is yet to bring under control.
