A disturbing incident unfolded in broad daylight near Bagdiha junction under Baripada Town Police limits on Sunday, where a man brutally slit his wife’s throat following an argument.
The deceased was identified as Sukanti Nayak (45), wife of Katia Nayak, from Gauduniduva village under Suliapada Police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, Katia and Sukanti were conversing near Bagdiha junction when an argument broke out between them. In rage, Katia pulled out a sharp knife and slashed his wife’s throat on the open road. Covered in blood, Sukanti ran toward nearby locals pleading for help.
Bystanders quickly wrapped a cloth around her neck to control the bleeding and rushed her to the District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
After reaching the scene, Baripada Town Police detained Katia Nayak, and initiated a detailed investigation.
