Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Sunday expressed deep reverence for the sanctity of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra, while also addressing the tragic stampede near Gundicha Temple that claimed three lives.
Speaking to the media, Harichandan said,
“The divine glory of Mahaprabhu’s Rath Yatra is beyond worldly understanding. Every event unfolds as per the Lord’s own will. He ascends His chariot by His own desire and reaches the Janmabedi (Adapa Mandapa) with the same divine intent. Today’s Adapa Mandapa Bije has been completed peacefully by the Lord’s grace.”
The Minister added that from tomorrow, devotees will be able to have darshan of the deities in full devotion at the Gundicha Temple.
“We are doing everything to ensure devotees can have smooth darshan in an organised manner. The administration has arranged all necessary facilities. The deities will remain at Gundicha Temple until Bahuda Yatra,” he stated.
Praying for the well-being of all devotees, Harichandan said,
“I have prayed to Mahaprabhu to bless everyone and keep them safe under His divine protection.”
Addressing the tragic stampede incident, the Law Minister termed it “very unfortunate” and confirmed that the state government has taken stern action.
“A senior officer has been assigned to conduct a thorough investigation. Appropriate action will be taken once the report is submitted,” he assured.
The government had earlier transferred the Puri Collector and SP in the aftermath of the mishap. As the investigation unfolds, security and crowd control measures are being reviewed to ensure safety during the remainder of the Rath Yatra festivities.
