The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday reported the formation of a low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha.
The system developed at 5:30 AM IST on August 13, 2025, under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the Bay and its neighbourhood.
According to the IMD, the low-pressure area is expected to move west-northwestwards, becoming well-marked within the next 24 hours. It is likely to cross north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha over the next 48 hours.
