Oracle has reportedly laid off around 12,000 employees in India as part of a broader global workforce reduction affecting approximately 30,000 roles worldwide.

The move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations and restructure its workforce amid evolving business priorities.

Mass Layoffs Across Global Workforce

According to reports, the US-based technology giant has initiated large-scale layoffs across multiple regions. Employees were informed via internal communication that organizational restructuring had made several roles redundant.

Oracle currently employs an estimated 1.62 lakh people globally, with a workforce of around 30,000 in India.

More Job Cuts Expected

Sources indicate that the company may carry out another round of layoffs within the next month, raising concerns about job stability in the technology sector.

Oracle has not issued an official statement regarding the reported layoffs.

Severance Package Details

Affected employees in India have reportedly been offered a compensation package that includes:

  • 15 days’ salary for each year of service
  • One-month notice period pay
  • Leave encashment and gratuity (as applicable)
  • Additional two-month salary as a top-up

However, reports suggest that these benefits are applicable only to employees who opt for voluntary separation.

Employee Concerns and Industry Impact

Some former employees have raised concerns about working conditions and job security. One ex-employee cited dissatisfaction with extended work hours prior to being laid off.

The development reflects a broader trend of restructuring within the global tech industry, where companies are increasingly focusing on efficiency, automation, and cost optimization.
