Odisha’s Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, today delivered a stirring address at the inauguration of Jagadguru Kripalu University in Baansa, Kataka, welcoming President Droupadi Murmu and outlining the institution’s transformative role for the state and the nation.
Speaking on behalf of Odisha’s 4.5 crore people, the CM Majhi hailed the President as “the pride of our soil and India’s first citizen.” He said her presence had infused fresh enthusiasm, hope and inspiration into the hearts of Odias.
Describing the inauguration as far more than the opening of a new campus, the Chief Minister called it the start of a new journey to establish Odisha as a global centre of higher education, research and moral character building. He paid rich tribute to Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, calling him a trailblazing saint of the modern age who spread Vedic knowledge, spiritual consciousness and the message of pure love and devotion across the world.
The university, founded on Indian values and Sanatan ideals, will uniquely blend modern science and technology with India’s spiritual heritage. It will offer programmes in artificial intelligence, cyber security, computer science, management and health sciences, while Centres of Excellence in Mind Management, human values and Yoga Science will focus on students’ mental peace, character formation and inner potential.
Complementary initiatives — the Jagadguru Kripalu Clinic, a Yoga and Natural Therapy centre, and vocational skill training for rural youth and women — will demonstrate the institution’s deep social commitment, the Odisha CM noted.
Linking the university to the national vision, he recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent address to Gen-G urging a drug-free life and his unwavering focus on quality education under the National Education Policy. Under the Prime Minister’s guidance, Odisha has prioritised skill-based education, free schooling from kindergarten to postgraduate level (a first in the country), and industrial growth across 16 advanced sectors. The state recently ranked fifth on NITI Aayog’s Investment Friendly Index, and four more universities are set to come up soon.
Assuring full governmental support, the CM Majhi expressed firm belief that Jagadguru Kripalu University will play a pivotal role in India’s educational mission. He concluded by seeking the blessings of Lord Jagannath for the university’s progress and once again expressed profound gratitude to the President for her inspiring presence.
The speech underscored Odisha’s resolve to nurture not only skilled professionals but also value-driven citizens ready to serve the nation and the world.
