The outbreak of jaundice in Khurda district has raised concern, with nearly 50 children reported infected.
Public Health Director Dr Nilakantha Mishra confirmed that while several cases have been detected, none of the patients are in serious condition.
Dr Mishra stated that health teams in Khurda are actively monitoring the situation. Samples from the affected children have been collected for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause.
Preliminary assessment suggests the outbreak could be linked to Hepatitis A, a waterborne and foodborne disease. Officials have already identified the index case and are investigating how the infection spread.
The Health Department has launched awareness drives in the affected areas, urging residents to use clean drinking water and hygienic food. “We are keeping a close watch on the situation and necessary steps are being taken,” Dr Mishra said.
Local residents expressed concern over the sudden spread, though authorities assured that the situation remains under control.
