Online registration for women devotees planning to observe the sacred Kartika Brata in the holy city of Puri has officially commenced on the Odisha government’s official e-District portal (edistrict.odisha.gov.in).
The state initiative provides free accommodation, organized temple visits, and meals for 2,500 registered elderly women across Odisha for the duration of the holy month. This year’s Kartika Brata will be observed from October 26 to November 24, 2026.
Key Scheme Benefits & Facilities
Selected beneficiaries will be provided with comprehensive support during their month-long stay in Puri:
- Free Accommodation: Devotees will be housed at designated government facilities, including Brundabati Nivas, the Municipal Kalyan Mandap, and the Railway Tourist Complex.
- Temple Darshan & Mahaprasad: Registered Habishyalis will receive coordinated, hassle-free darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple alongside daily distribution of Abadha Mahaprasad.
- Health & Welfare Services: Dedicated medical check-ups, volunteer assistance, and transport support will be deployed across the camps.
Eligibility Criteria & Application Process
Women from all 30 districts of Odisha are eligible to apply under the following guidelines:
- Age & Status: Open to widowed women up to 70 years of age and married women aged between 50 and 70 years.
- First-Come, First-Served Basis: Applications are processed on a strictly digital first-come, first-served quota. Registration will close automatically once the designated 2,500-seat limit is reached.
- Priority: First-time applicants will be prioritized over devotees who have previously availed of the government scheme.
Applicants must submit their Aadhaar cards, domicile proof, and contact details directly through the e-District portal, as no offline applications are being collected.
